I ordered an A7V mobo and I got it yesterday. I got all excited and installed it in my case and plugged everything in and I turned it on. To my surprise everything seems to sound fine it’s just that my AGP video card won’t come on. So I change it out with another card, still wont come on. I put the cards in a different system and they (thankfully) still work. Is there a switch that I forgot to flip or something? I even took out the Ethernet and sound cards so there wouldn’t be a conflict.

I was under the impression that even if you didn’t have a HD or floppy connected you should still be able to boot to BIOS… am I right?

Why am I not seeing anything?

Please help!

I was under the same impression but I proved myself to be wrong. I took out a few components from my junk computer, namely the ram, and it wouldn't even post. Make sure all parts are where they should be before you think it doesn't work.
And make sure your video card is seated properly.

The motherboard is supposed to beep and let you know what is wrong with the system. There is a section in the manual for beep codes. Make sure it is not telling you something is missing or setup wrong.

At a minimum you need the video card, ram, processor, and keyboard. I would think you could get by without a HD, but maybe you need that too.

i read the section on beeps, there is no beeping happening at all. i have all the hardware installed, HD, RAM, everything, my monitor just sits there with its amber light on, im assuming that means that its not getting a video signal. i suppose its supposed to make "a" beep, but it doesnt. i just dont want to have to send it back and wait for another one. im impatient.

there isnt anything in the manual about no beeps.

I will assume the CPU, RAM, and Video Card are seated properly.
My system would not come on and found that I had one of my IDE Cables inverted. I can't remember if it was my LS-120 or my CD-Rom drive but when I turned it over it worked fine. I found my A7V won't even make it to the post if the drives aren't plugged in correctly.

I had this exact same problem. Boy was I sweating. The trick, and I have no reason why, is to hit the reset button. In my case this brought me into the bios. And this has now happenned on several occasions - mostly after I changed the CPU. Turning the computer off and rebooting WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. But hitting the reset button does.

well i tried, when i press the reset button nothing happens, but when i press and hole the power button it powers the computer down... i am getting pretty close to sendng it back and have them test it.

maybe it could be this...

in the bios, go to advanced -> pci configuration and check to see if the primary vga bios is set to agp or pci, hopefully it is set to agp.

maybe that's the prob...

jojo: it would be great if i could GET to the bios. i cant get video to work at all. im sending the bard back. thanks for all your help.

make sure if you are attempting to OC ur cpu the pencil marks are not touching ie shorting will give the same results no beeps nothing
erase it all and then retry at the base speed
good luck

By all means send the board back. I fiddled around with mine and eventually went beyond the 30-days warranty period. Now I'm stuck with a piece of crap. If you have a choice with the supplier, look into getting a kT7 from Abit. I have one and it's great. I've also heard that the MSI K7T Pro 2A is good.
