if I got a sound card and then disabled the onboard sound on the mobo, will I get any sort of performance boost?

Where I'm getting my video cards is @ www.infonec.com and the difference between the BFG GT OC and BFG GTX OC is $200. Is it really worth the extra $200? I think it can be put into getting a decent sound card and pocketing the spare for an extra GT OC in the future. Comments?

Avoid the diamondmax. Seagate, WD or Hitachi or even Samsung will work fine...

If you can, go with 2 WD Raptors (74 GB @ 10,000 RPM) in RAID 0 instead.
