Hi all,

My old pc seems to have packed up and wont now turn on so i thought i would take the hard drive out (western digital 1.0TB) and connect it to my new pc to get my music of the hard drive. At the time my new pc was on and displaying the log on screen and as i moved it forward to take the side panel off the power lead came out of the back and the pc cut out, i thought not a major problem and continued to connect my old drive with the wide sata power lead that was from my old pc into to my new pc, once connected i powered on and i heard a slight faint click but the pc didnt switch on? A bit concerned I disconnected the hard drive (western digital 1.0TB) and powered the pc back on again but now my pc turns on (fans working) but my monitor doesnt come on and just says entering power save mode and when i try to change the input it says its receiving no signal?? the keyboard (Logitech Iluminated) does not now light up/work and also my mouse (Dell USB laser mouse) does not work although the blue center sensitivty lights light up as normal. I plugged the keyboard (Logitech Iluminated) into my laptop and it lights up for a split second and goes off and i get a message "USB device malfunctioned windows does not recognize it." I get the same message for the mouse except the blue center lights stay on but the mouse does not work.

My graphics cards are: Nvidia K4000 and Nvidia Tesla K20.

Help me pleeeeeease!

Thanks

Rob

Slight update, i think the "entering power save and not receiving no signal" message is a monitor issue as i tried connecting the monitor to my Dell Vostro laptop via HDMI (should be a plug and play) and the monitor still displays the above message with a blank screen. Has anyone else had the same problem with the Dell 27" monitors?

I still cant figure out what has happened to my mouse and keyboard though?!

Problem still persists. I connected the monitor to my laptop via VGA and all is good, the monitor fires into life fine, so my problem lies with the mobo. My mobo powers on with no beep, fans seem to be working, hard drives seem to be making the right noises and theres a green light on on the motherboard but thats it. If the mobo has somehow shorted out would my graphics cards be ok?

I took both the cards out and connected the monitor via VGA to the onboard graphics and still nothing and as previously mentioned i also tried my old graphics card to no avail.

Also to note is that both my keyboard and mouse both seem to have taken a hit as when i connect them to my laptop i get a message "usb device malfunctioned, unrecognised device"?
