Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my PC. I built it back in June/July of 2013 so it's heading into it's 3rd year now. It's had the odd component here and there upgraded, been pulled apart a fair few times too when I was bored. And I've redone the cabling more times then I care to remember... and oh the zipties goddamn. But yeah looking to upgrade as my trusty PC has always managed to pull off ultra settings (minus AA settings at certain times) with any modern game that I threw at it. The first game that gave me a good old fashioned reality check was Witcher 3. It literally raped my old friend to put it kindly. Since then I've had to stick to a mix of high-ultra settings, although more high than ultra these days. Also my network card is abhorrently shit, and before you ask; no connecting to my router via cable is not an option. there are a fair few obstacles between my PC and the router including roughly 2 walls and about ~15-20m if you could make a straight line between the two. So networking is definitely something I need to upgrade, I'm getting constant DC's and my internet is insanely fast but my PC can't make any use of it (my laptop sat on the same desk gets no joke 10 times faster speeds).
So networking is the must upgrade, the rest my friends is up to what you would recommend. I'm open to everything from a few components to a new build and keeping the odd component from this build. Wouldn't mind a new screen either... haha

He's my current set up -

CPU: Intel i5 4670 @ 3.5GHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870XT 2GB Core Clock @ 1000MHz, Memory Clock @ 1800MHz

SSD 2: Crucial BX100 250GB
HDD 1: Western Digital Blue 1TB
HDD 2: Western Digital Blue 1TB
PSU: Silverstone Strider 500W
Disc Drives: 1x Samsung DVD/RW. 1x LITEon BlueRay/RW

Keyboard: Logitech G510
Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Reason I'm asking is I've haven't closely followed the PC component market since mid 2015 so I'm a bit out of it! Cheers
EDIT 2: The budget is whatever you want to make it. I'm not loaded so within reason everyone! But I can probably afford it unless you tell me to get 2 Titan X's...

Witcher 3 humbles any system on Ultra settings. If you want to play that game at higher frame rates on ultra, go for a 980Ti. You will also need to upgrade the PSU to a good quality 650 watt PSU. You might try a powerline adapter for your internet connection.

I'll be honest, quality I'm happy with, but I've had it for 5.5 years now and it's definitely feeling small. Thanks for the link btw, so how do they work? Plug in at the router, plug the router to it and then plug in at my end and plug my pc to it?

Shit and I was tempted to get the Fury at one stage...

Sounds too good to be true haha, I'll be buying a set with my next pay. You got any suggestions as to other components? Thanks man

Only if the powergrid at home works from different sources, but i can only imagine it comes from one source.

BadActor is giving good advice.
With the current monitor would a cheaper gpu already give a nice game experience, much better than the one HD 7870 can give. The gtx 970/R9 390 for instance. But what you want to spend is up to you, just read some reviews about the gtx 980 ti and compare, look at the 1080p results if there.
If you wanted to buy a better monitor and maybe one that does over 1080p or 1080p@144hrz would it be nice to have the best gpu.

The cpu should be able to do max turbo on all cores with the current motherboard so 3.8 on all cores should be possible.A minor speed boost, but possible.Just some info.

Yeah I think I might upgrade to a slightly larger monitor, maybe 24". Or factor that idea into my GPU selection, make sure I get one that can comfortably do 1080p like you said.
Also my CPU is NOT a K series, I cannot overclock it.

Apart from the suggestion above you may want a 1440P 44HZ monitor since the 980ti can handle it without much problems (60FPS only for High end games like Witcher though.)

A few good ones can be found here
http://www.144hzmonitors.com/gaming-monitors-buyers-guide-january-2016/

I'd also recommend getting a unit with G-SYNC as it makes gaming much smoother and more responsive than regular V-SYNC, and also because the 980TI supports it.

I'm not talking about going beyond turbo speeds.Max turbo on all cores is possible if all cores are made to run at the same speed,an option my "Z" Asus board at least has.The 212 EVO cooler should provide enough cooling for it.
