Hey there Ok so now i know there are about a million of these threads about OC'n the Q9450 and this is no different.
What i couldnt find though was any info on setting the NB Strapping.
My Set up is: Q9450, X48 DS4, 4870, Mushkin DDR2-800 (4-4-4-12), True120(lapped), PP&C 750.
basically i can get it to 3.2 easily with just an FSB increase. Once i go past there trying for 3.6 i have tried increasing VCore, NB Volts, FSB Volts, DDR2 Volts, loosening timings.
It will boot at 3.6 if i set it to auto, but i cant see the settings it uses, other then CPU voltage in CPUZ which is at 1.406 (Scary in my opinion) especially since im pretty sure it will boot with much lower voltage.
I think my problem has to do with the Northbridge Strapping (mostly cause i dont really know what it means)
this mobo offers Ax.xx, Bx.xx, Cx.xx, and Dx.xx and ive been using D2.00 because that worked when i Oc'd to 3.2 and was running my ram at 1:1 @ 400mhz
Anyways maybe im crazy, but i think this is definately a possible OC for my setup.
