Hi all,

I am currently putting together a list of componants for my 1st build and was just wondering if anyone can help me out when it comes to which RAM to buy.

I will be running a Q6600 (G0) on a Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R and intend to overclock, although not initially.

My question is this: what is the difference between

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, 4-4-4-12, DHX

and

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP

Which would be best, or should i get something different. I am buying from Scan.co.uk and it seems i am limited to only Corsair.

Cheers

Hi robjackson,

Corsair ram is a bit overpriced, would suggest some other ram below.

For overclocking, I would suggest on using Ram that has the Micron D9 memory chip modules. Like from these brands, Geil (Black Dragon), Gskill, OCZ, Cellshock and Crucial Ballistix.

Check out Dabs, ebuyer or this link below.

For 2gb I suggest the G.Skill DDR2 PC2-6400 HZ Series Dual 2Gb Channel kit £ 93.37 inc Vat
http://www.memoryc.com/products/des...C2_6400_HZ_Series_Dual_Channel_kit/index.html

If you are plannng on Vista for OS, you might want to check out the Geil Black Dragon 4gb kits at that site also.

Hope this helps you out some.

No, it's not worth the extra money.

And no need to worry how much you can OC the ram since there is no need.

If you run the RAM @ 1:1 this will play the CPU at 3.6Ghz which is a very nice speed for the G0. Plenty of power and no need for lots of extra voltage or heat concerns.
