Antec 1200 Side Panel Fan - Intake or Exhaust?

What do you guys think is better? Installing an intake fan (pushes cold air in the case) or exhaust (pushes hot air out of the case)?

I should note that I am getting dual nvidia 480s, which the side fan will be blowing on.

Why are you getting dual 480s when you can get dual 5870s for cheaper?

I use my side fan as an intake. You can also arrange your hard drives so the internal 120mm blows on the GPUs. I love my 1200

The 480 are blowing onto the gpu's so If you have the sidefan on exhaust the 480 fans will have to fight for good air. Having the side fan as an intake will supply plenty of nice cool air for the gpu's.

The Antec 1200 is designed so as that both optional fans .... and I would recommend adding both, blow air from ourtside into the case directly at the video cards. The 2nd fan goes on the back of the middle HD cage.

With a enthusiast MoBo like the R2E, you can use the thermal sensors to crank up the fans in response to temp levels.

480 has lower dollars per frame cost at current prices (average of all DX11 benchies at 1920 x 1200 and high settings). If both were at MSRP, it would be real close....IIRC it was $9.68 for the 5870 and $9.62 for the 480....a virtual dead heat. My guess is nVidia is pressuring vendors not to boost sales prices over MSRP. Hopefully, we'll soon see the 58xx back at MSRP levels.

It is customary to install fans on case side panels so they operate as intake fans. It would be very unusual to install them as exhaust fans.
