I know this isn't the right forum to post this in, but I couldn't get "other components" to work for some reason.

Anyway, I am having a problem with my computer shutting down while gaming, or doing anything that involves rigorous graphical rendering. After doing about every bit of troubleshooting I can, I am beginning to wonder if I have a PS problem. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe MB, AMD Athalon XP2700, 1GB Corsair PC3200XMSLL RAM, an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB video card in the AGP slot, and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card in a PCI slot. Thinking back, my problems may have begun around the time I got the sound card. Do you think that my power supply simply can't handle everything in my system, and that is causing my shut downs and lock ups? Is there anyway to diagnose, or troubleshoot a power supply? I thought 400W would be plenty when I built the system, but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks

The psu is enough, check heat, do memtest, do troubleshooter, then do prime95/superpi, and see if it's one of the 3(cpu/mobo/ram) if it's not, then the vid card may be the problem.

I have run Memtest, and check the heat as well. The CPU and MB never get very hot, and Memtest doesn't show any errors (although I had problems when I initially bought the RAM and ran it at 400MHz). What is Prime95?

I am going back in forth in emails with ATI support, as well as posting on the Corsair boards to see if it is my memory or video card as well. I can't find any problems with either through diagnostic tests...although the computer DOES shut down during video rendering. I disabled the sound card in Windows, and still had the same problems.

See if you have any conflicts since you noticed the problems when you installed the sound card. The sound card probably only uses 5W of power so I doubt it's a power issue. I would make sure you have good drivers and everything is getting along.
