Antec 550W True Vs. 550W True Control

Forget cash. Forget all other PSUs for the moment.

1. What real advantages are there with the control version? Not planning to use meters etc. So really just a fan speed adjuster?

2. Would the control version be worthwhile with a high-end system, or would I end up speeding the fans up anyway?

3. Does the non-control version have the same max speeds? (I'm figuring that both adjust fan speed to suit temps)

I don't believe the true control is for any sort of fan control. It allows for quick adjustment of the voltage rails usually when overclocking.
The True550W is so silent you really don't need to worry about it. If you don't feel like tampering with voltage rails just get the non control version. I've got the non control version of the True550 and it is always silent.

Cheers mate.

One other thing...I've just spotted the Neo thingy 480W.

Lets assume 3.2Ghz Northwood, IC7 max 3, 1GB Ballistix 3200, Galaxy Glacier 6800GT, 2 x 36GB raptors in RAID 0, a 74GB Raptor for data storage, plus FDD, DVD etc.

Either will do the job, yup?

Ya, the 480 would be fine. But the 550 is bigger and cheaper so what is there to loose? There is also a version of the 550 avaliable with a 24pin atx plug so it will comply with future systems.

I was thinking more of the tidy cable advantage. Hmmm. We'll leave that one until the buying start next month.
