Hello all.

I'm putting together my computer. I have just finished mounting the motherboard after installing the CPU and CPU cooler.

I'm installing the power supply now. I have the Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W. The cables are really thick (like rope) and there are quite a lot of them. Anyone got any tips on organising these so that they don't obstruct air flow so much in the Antec Nine Hundred case? I have no idea where to shove them.

Sorry about the horrifically nooby questions. This is my first PC build and I'm clueless about these things.

Cheers guys and thanks for taking the time to read.

I'd like to know as well. Mine got messy and I ended up shoving the extra cables in the bottom drive slot where the fan is. The problem with that is that you have to make sure the cables aren't in the fans path so it doesn't hit it when is spins. Otherwise I tied everything else together and tried to make it look not so messy.

I have that exact same case and PSU. What I did was buy additional cable ties and shove the excess wires through the big holes near the motherboard tray and use electrical tape to stick them in between the hardrive cage and the rear side panel.

There are a couple of ways you can run the excess cables.

There is some room below your harddrive tray to hide the cables not in use.
or
Run all cables in a nice loom/ bunch to the top and hide unused cables ontop of the cd/dvd
or
There is also room to dump cable through the tray.

A few examples

a few wire-ties/zip-ties can really make it all look much nicer and keep the airflow good.

I have the TX850 in an Antec 900, so I know what you mean.

Unless you want to cut some holes, I'd say lots of zip ties! Also, you can get little sticky squares that let you loop zip ties through them at a hardware store by the zip ties. These you can stick to the bottom of your case, slip a zip tie through them, and that keeps things snug where you want them.

There is enough room to take all the PCI express cables and Molex cables and lay them on the side of the HD cages. Zip tie them down and they'll be hidden when you put the side of the case back on.

Since the HD cages have a 1" lip from the back of the case, if you zip tie all your cables down there, that keeps it out of the airflow.

I had problems with cables and cases, which is one reason that I used modular PSUs when building my Antec 900 and Antec 1200. Also, I took the back panel off and slipped what cables I could between the back panel and motherboard tray. Of course, the requisite cable ties were used. Still isn't as neat as it could be. One thing I don't like too much is the PSU being on the bottom, as that stretches a couple cables tight over the top of the motherboard. Nothing to be done about that.
