Hey guys, I have a very specific problem that is difficult to google, so I'd thought I'd ask here, and would appreciate any help.
I have a pretty standard build with an Antec CP-850 power supply, it's huge, well cooled, and known as extremely reliable. My build does not use nearly as much power as I have.
I used to run the one cable with 3 different SATA connectors on one cable and connect my 3 hard drives, but when I bought an SSD I needed to use another cable. I used another cable with SATA connectors and connected it to the modular part. With the modular cable, I connected one hard drive and the SSD, and with the main cable, connected 2 other hard drives. Here's the issue:
The computer cannot find the boot disk roughly 30% of the time I restart the computer. When I switched the cable connections to test it, the hard drives that were connected to the modular part didn't show up 30% of the time. I have no clue what is going on: I doubt the power supply is faulty because it's known as very reliable and I take care of my system (no crazy overclocks/whatnot).
TL;DR - Good power supply has modular part: hard drives connected to the modular part don't boot up 30% of the time.
Thanks a lot for all your help!
