This PSU has two 6pin PCI-E cables. The 5850s require two 6pin plugs each. Can each of those two cables from the PSU using a Y adapter 6pin female to 2x6pin male provide enough power to run an HD 5850? That is hard to describe; I hope it is clear. I might be cutting it close, but the 5850s use less power than a lot of other GPUs.

I know it depends on CPU type and overclocking and all of that. My plan was an overclocked i5 760 with one HDD and one DVD, 4 sticks of ram, and maybe 4 fans.

You're going to need at least 600W of power from the PSU, while the unit is brand new. If the PSU is old, forget about moving forward with the project unless you're going to accept liabilities with fire or even worse, damaging other components in your system.

With an overclock, you're looking for a PSU, brand new, that can deliver 750W of power to the entire system.
