Hello everyone I have been playing far cry 3 recently and in settings I have found Anti-aliasing being turned off. Without it my GTX 970 could achieve around 80fps on average and when I turned Anti-aliasing to 8x my fps went down to 59fps on average. I'm playing on a 23inch 1080p panel and do you think it is even worth turning anti aliasing on at this screen resolution and this size of the monitor? Should I put Anti-aliasing to none ,2x ,4x or 8x?

Thanks for answering :) :) :)

Yes it is im just saying that sometimes 4msaa isn't enough on some games. For me with my 770 using dsr on shadow of mordor to run at 2k for some reason dsr runs lighter than 4MSAA.
generally with fast paced games, your going to notice the smoother framerate over the jaggies from aliasing. i generally find 4x AA on my 23"1080p monitor to be sufficient to remove all jaggie lines. It also depends on the type of AA as to the performance hit and how much of the jaggies it removes. Supersample aa is the best but has the biggest performance hit.

I never use in game AA on any games usually AA is really heavy on resources. I use sweet fx injectors or force fxaa ,smaa or any cheap form of AA through NV control panel. In your case since u have a 970 u could use DSR to run game at 2k or 4k so u don't need to use AA.To answer your question yes in some cases but find a cheap form of AA use sweet fx injectors and use DSR for minimal performance impact.
