Anti-loss distance detect device

Hi all!

I am looking for a device or technology that can detect the distance between the user and the PDA.

The device or technology must work WITHOUT:

• bluetooth connection (between PDA and device)
• iOS or Android applications

The basic idea would be to have a separate transmitter and a receiver.

The main goal is to keep the PDA with the user and if she/he loses it, the device will alert her/him, for example, if the distance exceeds 3 meters.

Very few devices work without mobile apps or bluetooth, so there’s little chance of me getting an answer or possibly looking at the wrong side.

Anyway, I look forward to ideas, new sides.

Why restricted to that category? If it must work without bt, or iOS/Droid applications, then such a device pair would seemingly be useful for anything.
