Hey there! Antimalware Executable takes up a lot of my ram. It is supposed to be 15-18 on idle and its at 24-29%. The service is called Windows Defender Antivirus Service.

Merry Christmas!

Solution
It could be running a scan, idle is when PC does background processes that are designed to speed PC up, so its a perfect time for it to run a scan since you aren't using it currently.

I don't have defender so mine uses no ram...

Could run a scan to see if it reduces usage.
could be malware (yes, I know, irony). Try running Malwarebytes and see if it finds anything.

i use bitdefender (not the free version) and with 16gb of ram, it uses .2% of ram max when PC is idling, it won't run any scans unless I schedule them.

I did use defender earlier in year and I didn't notice its usage to be that high, I was expecting it to be higher than it was. I normally use Bitdefender but I had it uninstalled while trying to fix another problem.

Is BitDefender a good AV? I usually use MalwareBytes.
