Question Antimalware Service Executable consuming 80% CPU usage

I noticed that it did this while I didn't move mouse, then when I moved it, the CPU usage died back to 1% total.

Right, while it’s scanning it’s going to consume a bunch but if you start using the computer it goes back down

After it’s done scanning it should come down but if it doesn’t then you have issues

The scan should not last very long unless it's having a problem reading the files.

How long does the scan take?

My last scan shows 32 secs.

I've never seen 80% cpu when the scan runs but perhaps I just never noticed it..
