"antimalware service executable" started when trying to open a game and the game never starts...

Hi

I'm trying to start a GOG game but after executing the game the game never opens. I can see that in the process list there is a "antimalware service executable" process using CPU every time I try to start the game. After 5-10 seconds the "antimalware service executable" process dissapears and the game does not start.

¿Why is that program blocking the game? If I pass the antivirus to the folder of the game, there is no virus on it.

that is part of windows defender so one way to stop it would be use another antivirus program.

Try downloading Malwarebytes and do the step suggested here by DCollins as then Malwarebytes will replace the Antimalware service executable - https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/218511-microsoft-antimalware-service-still-active/

Alternative is to install Bitdefender Free as it too will replace the executable

i whould prefeer to use the official windows defender program, but to solve this rare problem when openning a GOG game called Heroes 2

why not add your steam library as an exclusion on the white list in Defender so it doesn't scan it every launch

You did purchase this game legitimately and are not using a crack on it? Did you put a "trainer" in the game's directory?

i have the original game purchased but it doesn't work on windows 10 (its a game from 1996) so i'm using a patch
