[SOLVED] Antimalware service working needlessly

Hi ya'll... I use AVG and a few days ago I ran a Windows Defender scan on top just to be sure there's nothing funky going on.
Now I see Antimalware Service Executable running in the background ( zero CPU usage and about 130 mb of RAM) even though Windows Defender's Realtime protection is turned off.
Couldn't find a similar situation online so figured I'd ask

Edit: Ok so I'm a dummy... I enabled periodic scans and that's why the executable's working
