Any adjustments to this build to make it a bit cheaper? If not, are there any parts you would change in general?

Build will be used for gaming and I've been changing parts around to get a cheaper price. I changed from the i7-8700k to i5-8600k because I'm only going to be gaming.

It is quite likely that I will be overclocking the CPU.

Other than that I wasn't sure what else to change.

I also am unsure about the cooler, as I'd imagine it would stick out like a sore thumb in my build.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Keep your build as is; it is very good.

If you are having budget issues, consider deferring on the hard drive.
You can always add one later. 500gb ssd will hold a fair number of games.

As to the cooler, pretty is as pretty does. Noctua NH-D15s is as good as it gets.
Since you have 165mm available, the NH-U14s will do the job also

Its a fairly solid build, You can always drop down to 8gb's of ram and that should make a fairly big difference in price and not too much in performance, also what resolution are you playing on? You can always drop down to a 1070 ti or 1070 and that should be quite a bit.

My current monitor is 1920x1080 although I was considering getting a second 1440p monitor but that was before I downgraded my CPU. Do you think this one will be able to run 1440p or not?

Well, you could replace the Noctua with something like this (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/VRPfrH/arctic-cooling-cpu-cooler-freezer7prorev2). They're quiet and effective, but the reviews on the page can probably tell you more than I can. How much do you plan to overclock?

The other suggestion would be to go down the video card options to the 1070Ti, which is comparable to a 1080 if overclocked and cheaper.

A 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD might also be cheaper.

Oh, and dropping the RAM speed to 2400 or 2666 should also make things cheaper. I'm running 1600 DDR3 and have nothing to complain about.

It will run it. Technically, a 1050 Ti will run most games at 1080p on medium to high settings. A 1070 would have no issues with 1080p and should do 1440p just fine.

So only real changes are downgrading the GPU and the cooler. Okay, sounds good to me :)

I plan on overclocking the CPU to 5.0Ghz, hadn't planned on Overclocking the GPU.

Will the cooler you suggested be fine for this? I can still go with the original if not, or find a middle ground.

Whoa, 5.0 GHz? You might need water cooling for that (240mm radiator minimum). I'm not sure any tower cooler will help you get there.

I'd suggest asking in another thread or searching google for cooling that kind of overclock. I don't think my suggestion would help anything beyond 4.5 GHz; even then I don't know for sure.

Ok well I don't want water cooling. I based that number on a video showcasing the CPU overclocked to that amount. In that case I would only want to overclock if I could keep a stable temp so I might just have to go for a better cooler and see when it's all built.

Ok I won't change the build. I'm not having budget issues, I was just trying to see if it was possible to save a bit but not a problem if I wasn't able to.

Regarding the cooler I hadn't actually checked if it could fit in the case, that thought had never crossed my mind. I had this build recommended to me and I changed to that cooler myself so I will have to check it fits before ordering.

I probably will go with the original cooler if it's only an extra £20 or so, as that will cover me for overclocking if I decide to go ahead with it.
