Hello, besides 4K gaming, any advantages in using a 4K@144Hz gaming monitor in basic productivity and browsing applications?

It's a pretty big difference from 60hz to 144 for regular use, everything is smoother and easier on the eyes.

No, not really. You get smoother animations but that's about it. I use 60Hz monitors at work and I don't see any real need go faster.

If you already have a 4K@144Hz gaming monitor then by all means use it for basic productivity and browsing, but if you're not a gamer it would be a waste of money buying one just for that.

For productivity applications high refresh rate has no benefit.
But it doesn't hurt either.

If you have it, then use it.
If you're buying new, then 4k 60Hz is just as good.

Apple always advertises that their iPad Pro and MacBook Pro have Pro Motion for smoother scrolling. I don't see any different.

So it is the same thing for the Windows world? What will happen if I buy a gaming monitor that can handle 144Hz or 122HZ natively but the GPU cannot handle it? Most likely it can handle one but I may buy two or three monitors. About 30 years ago when we used monitors in frequencies different from the native one, there were also sorts of problems such as strange lines on the screen. Only the NEC Multisync could handle multiple frequencies. What about monitors including gaming monitors these days?

An issue with a 4k monitor for basic productivity is the size of the text more than anything else.
A larger monitor helps.

When I went from a 40" 60hz 4k monitor to a 48" 120hz monitor, I really did not notice any difference in desktop work.
