After 7 long years i finally get to build a brand new pc :)
This will mostly be used for gaming/work(Designer) on a 27 inch 1440p monitor. I understand its overkill but I've always wanted to build something a bit overkill and i can finally do so. Just need some advice on the parts i have got and what is good/not good. Budget is around 3 .3.5k but its ok to go higher.
Going for a white build to match the room

PC Case: - I have always liked the look of the nzxt h7 elitte but not sure how good thermals will be with the new cpu /gpu + if there is enough space
Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo (Front runner)
nzxt h7 elitte

CPU :
Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: (Again not to sure what is the best here but because im going for a white build i assume the "Corsair iCUE H150i " should be enough?
Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (Front runner)
Kraken X73
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360

Motherboard:
Asus ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard

Memory:
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Storage:
Sabrent Rocket Q4 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Sabrent Rocket Q4 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

PSU: (The biggest issue i have right now, most people are telling me to wait for the atx 3.0 so i can get the new power cable that comes with it to make the build look cleaner but i dont really understand the difference if there is any + if its worth the extra cost
ATX 3.0 POWER SUPPLIES
Corsair HX1000 Platinum 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Corsair RM1000x

Fans:
Lian Li UNI SL120 58.54 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack
Lian Li UNI SL120 58.54 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack
Lian Li UNI SL120 58.54 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack

GPU :
4080ti (When it comes out)

Any help on this build would be great, Thanks again

With your budget I'd look at a DDR5 build.

Example:

https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr5-sdram/p/N82E16820374348
G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series DDR5 5600 32GB (2x16GB) CL36 $179.99

Expect this board to hit the shelves within the next few weeks if not sooner. Price on this board will most likely be $250 USD seeing how the Z690 version of this board is retailing for $225 atm.

ASUS Prime Z790-A

500GB SSD for your OS (Windows):

Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 500GB NVMe M.2 Internal SSD $72.65

Storage SSD

Corsair 600W PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR Type-4 PSU Power Cable $19.99

Case with better airflow (no extra case fans needed).

DDR was a way i was thinking but it seems the performce is just not worth it from the reviews i've looked up. I can always just buy a kit in 2 years time when it actually gets better but for now not sure if its worth the extra cash.

Regarding the board is there a reason you went with the ASUS Prime Z790 rather then the one i picked out?

Thanks again for the tips

As far as the DDR5 goes, it depends on how often you rebuild. Either replace the RAM with a better (faster set) later on or if you rebuild every few years then get a DDR5 board and RAM at that time. With your budget though I don't really see a reason not to go the DDR5 route. I threw the Prime board in there because it cuts cost and it goes with your color scheme.

Ye i was thinking about changing the board out for Z790-P but the A i guess is the same thing really. The ROG STRIX is a lot of money for things i prob don't need. Regarding the DDR5 will defo look into it for the future

The Z790-P is a budget board. Only one M.2 heatsink for your SSD's and a 14+1 power phase design which won't cut it for an unlocked 13 gen i7 such as the 13700K / 13700KF.

Those reviews are more than a few days old and pretty much don't really apply to the faster ram. They only really applied to the first batch of DDR5, that was slow relatively and had very high timings. Newer ram is somewhat faster, with speeds upto (currently) 7800MHz CL38, whereas the first batch was looking at 4800MHz CL40, which had roughly the same overall latency as DDR4, which was why there was no tangible improvement.

That same affect has happened with every single DDR release, DDR3 2100 was actually faster for the most part compared to DDR4 2133, but no so vs DDR4 3200 or higher.

There's also bandwidth to contend with and DDR5 on board ECC, both of which are bonus's in the long run.

Ya i think DDR5 of course is the future but right now im in sweden and the pricing is crazy. I say this and im buying a 4080 :) but i think in about a year /2 i will defo just swap out the ddr4 i got for ddr5 so shouldn't be a problem. Also why i wanted to spend a little extra on the motherboard for the future

Well that's the big $$ way to do it. DDR5 and DDR4 are not compatible, not only physically different shapes, but totally different system in the way ram voltages are applied. Think of them as diesel and gasoline motherboards, there is no mix and match. So there's no just 'swapping' out one for the other. It'll take a complete motherboard And ram swap, at which point in 1-2 years from now a used DDR4 motherboard and used DDR4 ram isn't going to get you much on a return.

If you want DDR5, for any 'future' thinking, better off spending a little more now at the start, than spending out for a new DDR5 motherboard and ram, after spending out for a new DDR4 motherboard and ram

After what you said i think ive decided to go for it. So i've gone for this build now : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KGmg4s

Hopefully should be better for the future as you say
