Not long ago I built my rig w/ an Asus P5Q3 mobo, intel core 2 quad Q9550 2.8 Yorkfeild, 2 1 gig each ddr3 memory sticks corssair 1333, an HD 4870 512 graphics card, an Antec earthwatts 650 power supply. and 3 western digital hard drives in raid o. using vista home premium. Question is the memory good/bad , right wrong?any ideas for upgrading? Thanx for any info.

I thought that using a 32 bit system you cant go past 4 gig total for memory and the system uses some so any more than say 3 is a waste or not used.

Than Im almost certain that its 2gb of ram thats the problem when it comes to demanding games, not performance of your cards or cpu. Example: I have 2gb of ram in one of my PCs and it can play Crysis smoothly maxed out in 1680x1050 in XP. Same game, same detail level and it chokes in Vista even in 1440x900. I think its because when i boot XP theres under 400MB of ram taken by the system, In vista its over 1gb. Now Crysis takes around 1gb of ram as well(with max details) -> no free ram left -> swapfile on hdd is being used.

I had to quote myself as I cant be asked to type it again :)

Youre right, you cant go past 4gb but I still claim that if when using Vista even 3gb is much better than 2gb. While it was perfectly fine to surf the web, watch movies download stuff etc. when it came to gaming it wasnt so good anymore.

Following up on this, I have 2 1 gig each dual channel sticks of ddr3 memory, can I add 1 more or would that defeat the dual channel aspect?
