Hi all,

Please watch this video and listen to the audio issue.

I have tried literally anything possible to the extent of my knowledge to fix this issue. This started happening after an Nvidia Game Ready Driver update (the latest one) and the HDMI output sound has been completely messed up like in the video.

I have:
-Rolledback the drivers, reinstalled the gameready driver. Installed the Studio driver. Not working.
-I have completely factory reset the whole computer to a clean install where no files were saved.
-I have also changed hdmi cables to a brand 2.1 certified ultra.

The sound from realtek, directly on the computer is flawless. It is only when I put it in the hdmi port that it starts to get wonky.

I have a ZenBook Pro Duo UX582LR and nothing is working. ASUS wants to charge me 85$ for a diagnostic only...

Any audio gods that can please help me for the love of Santa Clause. I will be forever grateful

Hey there,

Merry Christmas.

Given the extent you have troubleshooted, the only other thing you haven't mentioned is a bios update.

Here is the most recent one: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/ux582lr/helpdesk_bios/

Note the details on how to update the bios, they are hyper linked in Blue. Once done, reboot, and test again. Let us know how that goes.

Oh yes sorry, I did do the BIOS update to the latest 305. I uninstalled all drivers manually, (Nvidia and realtek). Yeah i am at my wits end. 🙁

I use this computer for work and it was so expensive, I honestly dont know what to do anymore.

Well to be frank, in the future, you should be making regular backups of your operating system drive to an external storage drive using some sort of software like Macrium or Acronis, etc. As this case demonstrates, especially when you're going to update your Nvidia software. As you've also seen, you can't rely on Windows factory reset options. So now you've placed yourself in a situation where you'll have to totally wipe your operating system drive and reinstall windows from scratch. Best of luck in the future.
