Have been browsing around for a good monitor mainly for graphics (15% Gaming) for some time and I have narrowed my list to Dell UltraSharp U2410 Monitor. Before I start investing, I would like to hear from you folks if there are better options.

yes the 23" u2311 is a great buy. I think you can get one for like $230 right now as opposed to normal $300.

The 24" is really a whole different deal. More prone to coloring problems, heat problems, but it is verrry vertical and colorful. U best be up for 16:10.

I'm really interested in this topic as well.

Can someone with an Hewlett P. share with us your experiences with ur IPS monitor? The dell 24" IPS screens have been a laughable experience for me. Seems like you just have to keep returning them until you get the 1/4 thats actually fully functional.

My 1st 24" ran so hot it dried my face out regularly....dont get to close. So once you put the thing the required 4 yards away from ur face...you might as well go get a 23" bc u can't even barely see the 24 at that distance. If you live in a cold area and you are used to keeping your room below 65 degrees this monitor may be for you.

Most S-IPS and H-IPS monitors would use WCCFLs for broad color spectrum and higher brightness. With the exception of the Apple Cinema Displays which use cheap low spectrum WLED and the LaCie 700 series which uses full RGB LED backlighting.

There is also the Dell e-IPS displays such as the U2311 and U2211. Since s-IPS has higher transmittance, a lower power backlight can be used to achieve the same brightness but e-IPS isn't quite as good as the other forms of IPS.

If you don't want crappy TN and don't want bright and hot WCCFL backlighting you can try the BenQ VW2420H. Its a A-MVA panel with white LED. The colors aren't going to match IPS but view angle is almost as good but definitely better than TN. The contrast is a eye poping 3000:1 (manufacturer spec).

There are 2 other monitors worth considering... The HP 2475w (H-IPS panel) and the HP ZR24w (e-IPS panel).

Brief comparison of all three which is from the review of the HP ZR24w:
Each screen will have either a ranking or the actual measurement shown. Where they are ranked, it is from 1st to 3rd place where applicable in each category and colour coordinated red, amber and green. I'll try and explain my reasoning as well here:

you win jaguar, thanks. I remember reading a similar chart a month ago. The input lag steered me clear of the nicer HP H-ips panel in the end.

Will go for the less colorful e-ips HP if the new dell u2410 still gives me screen burn. *puts on sunscreen*

2 sad that dell doesnt make a 24" e-ips. Their 23" u2311 would be perfect for me if it was only a bit larger.

good stuff gentlemen.
