Any chance for me to run DOOM in any decent capacity?

With:

AMD FX-4300 quad core @ 3.8ghz
GTX 750ti
8GB DDR3
1920 x 1080p
Win7 x64

By decent I mean Medium/Low at 1080p only and get at worst 40 FPS?

Solution

Best way to go. Set aside 600 bucks and you're set. You'll get a SH GTX 970 or R9 390 for between 150 to 200 and the rest for the platform, with SSD, PSU, HDD and everything.
Pc gaming is not as...

I don't agree with either above poster. You have a GPU thats quite a few levels below the minimum requirement for DOOM, as well DOOM minimum is an 8 core AMD FX processor or an i5-2400 both of which are significantly faster.

I think you will be playing a slide show, and it will be an exercise in frustration, if it even runs.

Agreed.

Your system will be able to run DOOM, at least on all low, with playable fps.
There will be some hickups but I think it is still playable, despite being under the minimum requirements.
It is not guaranteed that games will run if your system is below the minimum requirements but it is also not 100% sure that they will not run properly.
The best thing is simply ...go ahead and try.

Hes asking for medium/low at 40 fps. There is no chance that his system will touch that. If it even runs he would be lucky to get more than 20-30 fps which is not playable. Your system is astronomically faster than his there is no comparison. This is bad advice to tell someone to buy a $50 game that they clearly will not be able to play.

OP do not waste $50 on this game until you have better equipment.

No try it! there is still 50-50 possibility that the system can still run it @ playable fps.
All of the comments here(including mine) is still unproven.
Nobody above has really tried it. (including me)
I tried to play games below the min requirements and some of them run properly.
I kept my old Q6600 quite longer than the average people here in this forum, before I bought my E3-1231V3 system.
You can still keep the game and carry it over to a newer rig. Nothing real to loose here. You gotta upgrade one day.

Again, note the last line of the 3rd paragraph:

http://www.techradar.com/us/news/gaming/the-doom-beta-might-be-scary-but-its-system-requirements-aren-t-1316961

And thats just for the beta. His GPU literally is not supported.

Do not buy the game.

Doom runs on medium settings on a 960 at around 60fps so you running a 750ti should tell you that your system on low will probably hang around 30 fps on low. At 900p resolution with a amd 8320 and a gtx 950sc at high settings and 900p resolution the game hovers around 50fps. If you play at 1280x1024 and low settings you might get 50 fps but doom surprisingly is pretty system intensive

Jokerproductions on youtube just did the system build i mentioned with the 950sc evga gpu and a 8320 and again at 900p resolution and high settings the game barely held 50fps during fights. I've played through doom on my 780ti's and there are parts in the game that choked my 780ti's even overclocked as high as they are

SO spend $50 on a game he can't play, when he could put that towards a new system and who knows how long it may take for him to do that, by then the game may be $20. Again bad advice, and his GPU is not supported as per Nvidia themselves. Read the link I posted.

No! Rogue Leader si right here. OP's 50 bucks are better set aside for some hardware upgrades. By that time, Doom might be cheaper.

Honestly if you want the game now you will jave to lower your settings. What you really should do is upgrade your pc. Maxwell cards are dropping like rocks right now since pascal is here so you could grab a 970 for really cheap next week when the 1080 hits or even better deal when the 1070 drops mid june. Get the gpu upgrade first then do a new cpu and motherboard. Considering how cheap amd cpu's are like a 8320 or even a 8370 you could get a motherboard and cpu combo for a great price. I would do your video card upgrade first.

I do not always have enough money to upgrade my rigs properly.
There were bad times too.
e.g.
I was running my Q6600 from 2007 to 2014. I know how it is like forcing some games even if my system was below the requirements, even as everyone said, it will not run.
Some games really run on all low, some can be run with lowering the resolution+settings, some not at all.
The tricky part is, nobody knows for sure.

I need a new PSU too... I'm ashamed to say but I've been using this prebuilt config since I bought it in April 2014 from Amazon. I bought the 750ti separately then and put it in, but never upgraded the PSU, which is some stock BS. I've been lucky to this point, playing games like GTAV, etv to my satisfaction. But my PSU would not handle a 970. Any recommendations on what card and PSU to get? I am NOT getting any of the new GPUs dropping, just want what the next 750ti will be. SOmething budget that can handle games for awhile.

I'm worried about cable management, though everything is neat now so I should be good. I guess I'd want a modular PSU.

The problem for you is most better GPU's will bottleneck on your PC.

I would normally recommend for you a GTX 950, however it is not a huge leap over a 750ti (its advantage is in the architecture). SO its not really what you are looking for.

What you should be buying to help you into the future for a while would be a GTX 970 and a PSU such as the XFX TS 550, Seasonic S12II 520, or EVGA 550 G2. Both of those can be brought over to a newer more powerful system. The GTX 970 also will bottleneck on your current processor, but IMO its the most efficient way to spend your money.

I think my plan is just going to be build a whole new PC from scratch. Went with the prebuilt this first go around because I was too intimidated to build my own. So I will hang on to this one for awhile, at least until I get my next tax refund. For now I'll enjoy Overwatch starting tonight, which 'Can I Run It' says I meet min and recommended. I should be able to play on Medium with 60+ FPS - that game still looks gorgeous. Didn't play the beta though, but preordered Origins Edition.

By then Doom will be $30 or cheaper I'm sure.

Pc gaming is not as expensive as it used to be if you make the right choices.
