I am actually getting the peripherals for Christmas for my Fx 6300 build right now. Except I am getting a Evga 600b but I would not like to take anything out of my current build just use the monitor mouse keyboard etc... my dads a computer tech and has multiple copies of Windows 7 Pro already because he gets them at a discount so I don't need that either. So budget for just pc would be subtracting those items.

I am really interested in AMD because of the amount of "cores" they have. More futureproof it seems. An intel cpu now can play 2016 games that use 8 cores on low settings with a newer card. A AMD that has 8 cores can run it on Medium with a newer card. That is if Tech doesn't dramatically get better it seems.

You don't need any peripherals, monitor, win7?

I'd actually stick with Intel. An Intel sandy bridge i5 will play games faster than a new fx8350 right now, and Sandy bridge is 3 years old now? Haswell is 2 generations newer than SB too. Games haven't evolved to significantly take advantage of more cores either, so I wouldn't worry about that either. Up until this last year dual-core Cpu's were running most games as fast as quad or octa-core cpu's.

There isn't a game that fully uses 8 cores, that's the thing. Crysis 3 is about the closest there is though, because it does take advantage of Hyperthreading cores.

The i3 does almost as well as the i5 and 8350. Keep in mind, that's not even a 3570k Cpu they tested, so not the fastest i5 that was out at the time. The 4670k is faster still.

Sticking with Amd for this build:

I didn't know if you needed an HDD, so I left it out. Figure 60 dollars for a 1tb model if you need one. Upped to a 770 video card however, because I don't think a 760 cuts it when you are spending a grand on a new build. Better cooler to take full advantage of overclocking the FX Cpu.

is that more expensive cooler worth it compared to that $20 I don't have to spend it all. the 770 looks good though solid state good. I like the 990 fx. I don't need a hdd I have a 500 gb in my 6300 and I have like used 100 gb

Well, the cooler might be overkill, but it will allow you to take full advantage of overclocking that Cpu, and it was on sale for a good price after MiR. They Hyper 212 Evo is a nice budget option capable of mild to medium overclocks though. Up to you.
