Any compatibility issues with my new 1070 GPU and old Z87-K MB

Hello I've been looking at an upgrade for a little while now and I've got friends that say a EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING GPU would be incompatible with my ASUS Z87-K MB. However, I also have friends that say it would be compatible with it so I'm a little torn on if I should upgrade or not. Also my CPU is a i7-4770K and I have an 800W power supply if that helps in answering my question. Thanks for any and all answers

You shouldn't have any problems using that GPU, older motherboards (h61/z68) sometimes need a BIOS update to support them, but a z87 board is not THAT old, it should support that GPU out of the box.
