I have a monitor that can go up to 4k and I recently bought a 4k tv. I've always had them duplicated at 1080p previously with my old tv an now I have the ability to duplicate at 4k which I have an it accepted it. I'm just wondering maybe from a gaming perspective or watching a 4k movie maybe, would it be better to play it all just on 1 screen instead.

Solution
While it may drive both displays, performance will be poor for anything graphically challenging. Just not enough GPU horsepower.

That is a lot of pixels to process (two 4k displays). What is the make/model of your GPU?
