i`m looking for a good monitor
20" plus and its hard to find reviews of anything besides
lcd`s so does anyone know a good crt to buy?

NEC/Mitsubishi CRT monitors are awsome. I have a 22" FP2141SB and it is beautiful.
They carry on the sony trinitron tradition of excellence w/ their diamondtrons.

well it sort of takes a breath once in a while the screen sort of shrinks very slightly it is very annoying, i understand this usuall has something to do with the capacitors so i probably got a bum monitor, but even though i`m not happy with the monitor it is not very clear, the top resolution is low, and the controls suck.

My sony g500 trinitron started to do that when it got very old. I think that is something that afflicts all crts at some point because I have seen it on lots of different makes/models.
The controls did take a little getting used to but my 22" is almost as sharp as my friends 22" LCD monitor and I always run it at rediculous resolutions w/ high refresh rates.

its weird because it won`t do it for a while then it starts again in any case what do you think of viewsonic monitors?
or even ibm monitors?
i think lcd`s do not have enough resolution or response rate just now not to mention the high price, maybe in 2-3 years they will be a good alternative to lcd`s.

I've had a lot of problems with viewsonic monitors. They used to be pretty good but some of the new ones coming out are just plain garbage. I have had 90% of a shipment of E70 monitors die within 2 months. I believe that was about 30 monitors.
I believe IBM monitors use a mitsubishi diamondtron tube.
LCDs are coming down in price rapidly. To get one with extremely low latency will cost you though. You can get the Dell UltraSharp 20.1" LCD for $599, that aint bad. My friend has one of those at work and it has VERY good picture quality.

what do you think about the hyundai lcd monitor the
imagequest l90d+
it has 8ms response and costs around $370
not bad huh?
i`m just worried about the limitation of the resolution, the native resolution. i`ve seen lcd monitors and they look good but do you think i will regret not having a monitor with a higher available resolution? i`m assuming the higher the resolution the better the picture.

Haven't seen a hyundai yet but it sure sounds pretty good. 1280x1024 is a good native res for a 19" screen. I'm running my 22" CRT at 1280x1024. I don't know that my eyes could deal with 1600x1200, lol.
Keep in mind that you will want to run games in the native res as well. If you don't have a burley video card maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to get a screen that has a high native res.

It can only display up to its native res. It will display lower resolutions but it will look very blocky and blurry.

i usually max out the resolution on my games
what do you think? would you get an lcd or crt?

If you max out your res in games you will be fine with a large LCD. I myself would get a large CRT but that is just me. I can't take gaming on an LCD regardless of specs. My eyes even hurt when playing games on my little 15" laptop screen w/ its low latency. I haven't met anyone else w/ my problem though
A large 20"+ lcd is going to have a native res of at least 1600x1200. That will be good for games and windows.

eek you really trust refurbished monitors crash? When monitors get old bad things start to happen to them. I really need to replace my kds vs-70 because now at 1024x768 the damned thing is blurry as hell, cant even read it text. that's the resolution I need for gaming! I cant stand any other resolution than 1280x1024 for desktop use and the thing can only do 60htz at that res which also look quite blury and is hard on the eyes. I'm thinkin about that 20in dell lcd more and more...

All my monitors are used. Only one was reconditioned. Most of the ones I paid decent money for are decent, others I got from junk sales were mixed, some good, some bad, some OK.

A freind of mine tells me nothing beats the <b>Viewsonic P225f</b> i myself am considering this monitor or a <b>Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u</b>

however if i can find one, i might look in to a <b>Iiyama MS102DT</b> also

they don't have the those damn trintron lines in them apperently... i have yet to see one around tho.

as you say its hard to find a review on CRT's its just as hrad to find CRT's in a store... at least one displaying anything.
