Any good looking realistic survival first or third person shooter games where you have to eat drink and sleep and that are open world. sort of like Dying Light and Tom Clancey's the Division.
The Forest is a PC exclusive open-world survival horror game. It just released like a month ago I think. You have to survive in a forest filled with cannibals and weird alien creatures all the while trying to scavenge for food, water, and build shelters. I haven't played it yet but I definitely plan on it.
One of best survival shooter game i liked is Far Cry.. so many tricks, there are wild animals too which attack anyone whether yourself or enemies.. you can use your mind to use them against enemies.
Also sniper elite, if like to shoot through sniper from distance.. and enjoy enemy's reaction when they dont see any one lol
Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. But if you wait a little more, the developers are going to release Metro: Redux which is both the games with extra content and graphics modifications to the first game (2033). Not open world though, but the atmosphere makes up for that, IMO.
Metro isn't open world, and doesn't require eating/sleeping/anything. They're great games, I already bought both and I'll buy the Redux again, but probably not what he's looking for.
State of Decay is an option. Open world, third person zombie survival. Requires scavenging supplies and resting.
7 Days To Die is another zombie option. First person, procedurally generated base-building open world game. Requires scavenging for food, water, and building materials. Still in progress, but entirely playable.
Fallout New Vegas is a first or third person (third person in that game is terrible though) open world shooter/rpg hybrid, with a hardcore mode that requires drinking. Main enemies are mutants and human raiders.
