Hi, I want to buy an AMD Athlon II x2 280 (3.6GHz) because I saw it interesting.

I have an old motherboard (Asus M4A77TD AM3+) and by the moment works fine, except the graphics, and then, the system itself. So I'm thinking about to buy that CPU and another GPU but I don't know which GPU to buy.

My specs:

AMD Athlon II x2 245 (2.9GHz)
8GB RAM DDR3
Windows 10 Home x64
HDD 250GB
Nvidia GT210 1GB DDR3

Thanks.

As long as your BIOS is updated to at least the version spec'd out in the CPU support list for that processor, it will be fine. If the...

Is this gfx card for gaming? Or just general use? The aging dual core CPU isn't going to be able to keep up with a whole lot more GPU than what you have now w/o bottle necking the GPU. But buying a modern card would allow you to have more VRAM.

The GT 1030 or RX 550 would be doable with that dual core w/o bottleneck.

Why such a slow old AM3 CPU? That board accepts much faster AM3+ CPUs. Here is the CPU support list for that motherboard.

I will try with a Phenom II x4 955 (3.2GHz). Which graphics will be good with this?
Is that CPU fine?

EDIT: I fixed the 655 to 955.

As long as your BIOS is updated to at least the version spec'd out in the CPU support list for that processor, it will be fine. If the BIOS needs updating first, just get the latest. The GT 1030 or RX 550 will work fine with that CPU. But that CPU can keep up with faster cards than those. So if you want to go with more GPU, let us know the make and model of your PSU. (As long as you have a decent 300W or better, the GTX 1050 Ti would be great)

My SPU has 230W :/

After a long time breacking my head checking my PSU I know which is the brand and the model.

Brand & model: Rexpower PX-500 ATX 12V 500W.

But when I enter a CD my OS goes bad (the same as I connect a card reader, but this goes worst)

Is this your PSU?
If so, it looks like a "fake" 500W. I don't even see a 6-pin PCIe listed for powering a gfx card. (of course, I can read the language)
