I am looking to build a gaming rig, and here is what I am planning on getting. I want to know if there are any problems or incompatibilities with the system. The specs are as follows:
]i7-5930k
16gb DDR4 2400Mhz
Corsair Obsidian 900D Gaming Case
Corsair Hydro H110 Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler
GIGABYTE X99-UD4 Motherboard
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB
650 Watts - Corsair CSM Series
X2 256GB ADATA SP610 SATA-III 6.0Gb/s SSD

I would also like to know if any component is lacking, or overkill for a 1440p gaming rig.

Solution
You don't need an X99 build for gaming. Go with a 4790k instead, or even a 4690k since they perform very similarly in gaming. You also only need 8gb of ram for a gaming rig. I'd go for a 4690k with a Noctua cooler, overclock that CPU to 4790k speeds and with the money saved throw in another GPU (SLI 970's or 980's if in your budget).

Are you going to be doing anything other than gaming because if you aren't using adobe suite products or 3D animation/Other programs like Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, etc. you don't really need the x99 chip-set (the 5930k, 5960X, 5820k). If you are, the 5930k is a great choice for bother 3D programs and gaming but if you aren't I would recommend the best z97 cpu for gaming which is the 4790k. It is also $200 bucks cheaper. Your ram is good but what company makes it because that plays a big part. I would recommend corsair LPX ram but that is just my opinion. Motherboard is ok but MSI is what I would recommend for X99 because of customer support. 980 is a great choice but for a 1440p monitor unless it is 144hz the 970 would do just as well. Not really sure how much watts this thing needs but Google a PSU calculator so you can get a better understanding. DO NOT GET AN H110 COOLER!!!! That thing is an extremely loud vacuum cleaner and should not exist on planet earth. I would recommend something like the H90 but if you want something bigger you can go with the H100/H100i. Case is fine I guess but I'm not really the case expert. My rig has a fractal R5 which is in my opinion the best mid tower case on the market for under $200 and the sound dampening foam also is a plus. For your SSD I would go with a Samsung EVO. You should also get a hard drive that isn't an SSD for more space too.
