I want to upgrade my motherboard and cpu soon , and i was planing to buy i7 7700k (because i might get 1080 gpu next year, anyways ram im my country cost alot... and i really dont want to throw up my 10gb ram so easy... is there any motherboard that would work with ddr3 ram and i7 7700k? or is there any motherboard that supports ddr3 and ddr4 at same time that would be perfect...
Have a nice day everyone!

Solution
No. There are some, for Skylake only, that support *either* DDR3 or DDR4 RAM. But, there's a huge catch: It has to be DDR3L RAM, meaning 1.35V RAM. It's overwhelmingly likely you have 1.5V or possibly 1.65V RAM. You can use 1.5V RAM until the time it fries your memory controller and you're buying a new CPU (Microsoft's not going to replace that).

Given that your RAM is old, not particularly fast, and you're running a FrankenRAM mix, I'd definitely move on from this RAM in a new build in any case.

There's only 1 board I can remember that supports either ddr3 or ddr4 and that's the ASRock B150M Combo G. Decent board, but good luck finding one now. Even ddr3 only skylake boards are going for as much as $390.

Bite the bullet, if you want the 7700k, you'll need ddr4. However, you'd be better off with an i5-8400 on a b360 or h370 (can be found new at less than $70) unless you really just have to OC.

Motherboards that support that CPU and DDR3.

They may require a BIOS update (with a 6th gen CPU) in order to work with a 7700K. As said above, that CPU only officially supports 1.35V RAM (DDR3L), not full 1.5V standard DDR3. It should work, but according to Intel you risk damage to the integrated memory controller over time.

All the combo boards made so far (including the ASRock B150M Combo G) haven't allowed simultaneous operation for one reason--they use only one voltage regulator for all memory so would not be able to simultaneously run two memory types that require different voltages, without severely overvolting the lower voltage memory.

Such a thing should be theoretically possible, but there has so far been no market to justify the additional expense. And there have been combo boards since SDR plus DDR1 slot boards were made (before that, Intel infamously had their Memory Translator Hub corruption problem when adapting SDRAM to Rambus)
