Hey guys,

Hey guys,

I recently bought an Alienware 15 R2 laptop ,and was curious if I need the graphics amplifier(Alienware's Graphics Amplifier). I play MOBA's and a few Triple A games.

The Specs are:

Processor : Intel Core i5-6300HQ (Quad-Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.2GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2133MHz (4GBx2)
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 965M w/ 2GB of GDDR5

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

The "graphics amplifier" is just external GPU housing. You would have to actually buy a GPU to go in it. So if you do go that route you are looking at $200 for the (overmarketed, overpriced) external housing then another $350+ for a decent GPU.

If you are fine with the performance you have, as in it does what you like it to, don't spend the money.

If you would like to "upgrade" it would be better to simply build a mid-range gaming desktop.
