FIrst off, specs:
GTX 1060 6GB AMP! Edition (Zotac)
AMD FX 8300
Gigabyte GA78LMT USB3 mobo
PNY Anarchy 8GB ram
500w PSU

Anyways, I was just wondering what I do exactly to overclock. I've looked into it (albeit not very extensively) and I'm assuming I just gradually increase my GPU and MEM clocks, as well as my fan incase it is needed? I've also seen people talk about the power target and that I should increase it to 120, but is it needed, because I only saw some people say that they used it specifically? I also tried just a GPU and MEM clock increase (made it to +210 because i was increasing both gradually at the same increment) and I tested it in some games and I really couldn't see a huge FPS difference? I primarily use FireStorm as well, but I can use other programs if need be.

Solution
For GPU OC, follow this guide:
0. Install MSI AfterBurner. Download and run UNIGINE Valley or Heaven on Ultra.

1. Max your power limit.

2. Increase your core clock 25+ at a time while looking at UNIGINE benchmark till artifacts (weird lines and colors) appear or your driver crashes. Then fine tune it compared to your previous clock.
Example Core clock: +25 > ... > +150 > artifact > +125 > ... (Keep it 25 or more below max)

3. Do the same for Memory. (50 or more below max)

4. Save your profile.

5. Don't check apply overclocking at startup. You can check it after few days.

Keep your temps below 80c/176F, if you go over it or stay near it., consider installing a fan on your case near the GPU.

Have you already over clocked your CPU? Even with a good overclock on a FX 8300 it’s probably bottlenecking your 1060 in quite a few games. That might be why you aren’t seeing any improvement after overclocking your GPU.

Also, you're probably bottlenecked by the CPU. Because an older i5 (games don't use more than 4 cores) can beat it.
