I am thinking of buying a 144Hz Monitor and pair it with a GTX 1050ti.
I already know that the GPU won't go to 144 FPS in newer games, but will there be any performance issues with the monitor or the GPU if 1050 can't reach 144 FPS?

Solution
Thanks for the updated info. The 6700k is a very nice CPU. What speed is your RAM? Last but not least, whats your screen size preference/limitations? I have the 1440p version of #1 & love it. Freesync is nice. It works great with my 1060 6GB.

Here are a few ideas:
#1 - MSI, 165hz, 32", 1ms response, curved screen, Freesync & 1080p, - $306
#2 - ASUS, 144hz, 24", 1ms response, 1080p - $199
#3 - AOC, 144hz, 27", 1ms response, curved screen, Freesync & 1440p, - $249
Hi @kritonkla

As you already know, it entirely depends on the game and your settings. As for performance issues, that entirely depends on the monitor itself. Which one are you looking at? You could have a 5700 XT or a 2080Ti, but if you have a crummy monitor to start with, then you're not going to get the best performance out of it, regardless of the GPU you may have.

On that note and I'm not trying to diss on your 1050Ti, but please be aware that unless you plan to upgrade soon, you're not going to be getting all you could out of a good 144hz monitor with that GPU.

Whats the rest of your system? What types of games are you planning to play? While you're at it, whats your realistic budget? Please no theory builds, but cold card cash you could spend immediately. Once we know what you plan to do with your system and how much you can spend, members here will be able to offer you a few ideas to look at.

@Mrgr74 Here's my current build: CPU: I7-6700K, GPU: GTX 1050Ti, Ram: 16 GB, My current Monitor is SyncMaster 2494HS which is very old. I would play FPS game and RTS game and I am planning to upgrade my Monitor first. Right now I only have about $300-350 to spend.
