Any point to overclocking RAM?

Any point to OC'ing RAM? Any major boost performance playing games? Will i lag less or stuff like that? Not that i do anyway....but the more the marrier

Games and apps will each respond a little differently. Some will show almost no difference while others will reduce lag and faster texture switching.

Messing with RAM works best in conjunction with overclocking the CPU.

I do see a performance gain if we are talking about lower timings, meaning for example if you go from 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-12. In terms of raising the FSB the performance gains are minimal.

Short answer: no.

Faster ram or better timings do result in better synthetic benchmark scores, sometimes a dramatic improvement.

But... The faster ram does not translate to significantly reduced application times or higher FPS. Think 2% or so. Toms has had some articles on this for various platforms. Search for "ram scaling"
