This is the PSU I have (XFX TS Series 550W) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Manufacturer page : http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/ts-series-full-wired...

Will this Power supply be good enough for Gigabyte GTX Titan X ?

Rest of my rig :
i5 4690k @ 4,2 GHz
8 gb of ram
SSD 120 GB
HDD 1 TB
DVD Drive

No overclocking , should be fine.

A GeForce GTX Titan X - 38 AMPS ON THE 12V+ RAIL and a 600 watt power supply with 1 - 6 pin and 1 - 8 pin PCIE power connections.

The rail is the key and the XFX has 44 to 45 amps , so with no overclocking you should be fine.

650w would give you extra headroom , but that 550w should run it.

I would go for 600w just to make sure, but it's a quality PSU so it could do it.

nVidia Says:

Thermal and Power Specs:
91 C = Maximum GPU Tempurature (in C)
250 W = Graphics Card Power (W)
600 W = Minimum System Power Requirement (W)
6-pin + 8-pin = Supplementary Power Connector

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX Titan X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 600~650 Watts power supply unit.
GeForce GTX Titan X SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 900 Watts power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock your GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

Might wanna wait for the 980 Ti and save $350

thanks for regurgitating what I already regurgitated from someone else lol. I at least posted the original toms thread for plagiarism's sake lol.

sometimes it bothers me how much you know. I think there should be a new thread options called "ask Blackbird" lol

hmm, It will be tricky to run a GTX Titan X 12 gb on my 550W PSU. I am afraid of random shut-downs, freezing and other problems cause by low power PSU.

I know that GTX 980 Ti will be a cut-down version of Titan X. Is there any chance that it will require less power than Titan X (less than 600W) ??

Source of information ?
Anyway, I was asking about the GTX 980 Ti 6 GB, not the GTX 980.

Actually you have Gigabyte GTX Titan X? According to gigabyte your minimum recommendation is 600w for 12GB and 6GB versions.

No, I dont have it. I know that the minimum recommendation is 600w, but Im just wondering if the power requirement could be lower for the GTX 980 Ti ?

980Ti is probably set to be in the middle of Titan X and 980 so it will probably consume less than the Titan X
