I'm gettng ready for my first build since early 90s. Right now I'm still chugging along with a 10 year old Win7 Dell XPS 8100 PC. Intel Core i5 650, 16GB Ram and an ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB Graphics card. Yes! For REAL! heh heh

Have been sourcing out the components this past week and have come to a preliminary build config. I'm basing this build around the Intel Core i7-6700 since I already have a new retail unopened box for this, that I've never used yet and I just want to continue using Win7 Pro on a much faster PC that still supports my older programs I use like Adobe CS6 Master Suite, MS Office, etc.

My use case are things like playing around with Photoshop & After Effects, video creation/editing, and other general PC usage. I'm not much of a gamer but may try my hand in a few games over time.

The only thing I haven't figured out yet is new displays. I have a pair of Dell 23" displays ST2310 and they are still going strong after 10 years. But they only have vga, dvi-d and a hdmi ports and my graphics card in my new build will have 2 display ports 1.4 and 1 hdmi 2.0b connections.

Sooo... Any recommendations on a pair of 27" displays with display ports so I don't have to use adapters. I don't need a gaming display, just a good quality display. I need a starting point...

Ok... Here's my potential build. Do you see any potential issues with this config or what I'll be using it for?

For Photoshop and Premiere I have a pair of Dell UltraSharp 27 inch (U2719D) on my i9-9900KF. It's my third set set of Dell UltraSharp, one on my spare computer (an 17-6700K) and an old set went to the wife.

On your build, I recommend that you add a fast small (250GB) SATA SSD for a scratch disk if you really do much Adobe work, as it really makes a difference, something like a Samsung 860 Pro.

Thanks for your reply!

I LIKE that Dell 27" display you're using. That's NICE! Dell seems to make some really nice displays. Gonna have to write a letter to Santa and see what he can do this Xmas. LOL

I'm not a heavy user of the Adobe products... just like to use them for some of my home biz stuff and other personal things. STILL learning about using them productively and for fun. So, I have to ask, though... Just what is that "scratch disk" you mentioned?

Thanks again for your response. Have a GREAT rest of the week!
