Question Any reliable antivirus

I had some sort of trojan in my pc
If i enable windows defender, most of my exe files ares said to be infected and been removed
And if i download a fresh copy of software, eg chrom, MSI afterburner,whatever program, it seems to infect very fast
Other than that i dont see any actual damage yet

Tried to reinstall windows, but the virus may hae reactivate from old files
I need a way to secure my old data files..

Failed, shortly reinstalled, i may have used old setup files, saves, settings from user,
Not sure which ones
And files(mostly exe) are removed by defender again

Are you completely unwilling or unable to blow it all up and do a clean install?

Not sure you could ever have confidence you got rid of the trojan.

How would you know you had succeeded?

You might spend 5 or 50 hours trying and ultimately fail.

Just downloaded Malwarebytes and defender aleady says its infected, by
Trojan:win32/Wacatac.B!ml

Could the virus just changed defender, and delete all my files?

I had games and other folders on 2nd and 3rd hdd which i didnt format, only formatted c drive

So may be some files are infected there and got reactivated again

Could be.

You're back at square one.

You can try to de-contaminate this or that drive and you'd be left wondering if you succeeded. Or not. How would you know?

Bad situation if you have no backups.
