I'm currently making my first real map (not including the few I made to figure
out unrealed3). I'm modeling it after the simpson's TV room. It's going to be
one of the maps where you are very small. Some people hate them but I love
them.

If anyone is interested in giving me a hand with some of the meshes, it would be
appreciated. Also if you know where I can get some high-res picture of the room
it would help a lot (I have some DVDs, but the quality still isn't that great).

If people are interested, I'll post some screen shots to
alt.binaries.games.unreal when I have some more progress on it.

I'm still learning how to make the meshes, so they aren't the best in the world.
So far I have the TV and the couch done. The couch...well, it's the right
color. The biggest problem with that is I don't know how to make the trim that
goes around the edges, nor how to make the cusions look cusiony. The tv looks
kinda like it was modeled out of clay, but meh, it's the best I can do.

I was hoping to have some screenshots to post already, but my computer crashed
while unrealed was saving, and I lost the entire bloody file. Lucky I still
have most of the stuff I used to create the map, and most of the dimensions
written down, so it won't take too long to recreate.

I will definately keep you updated, and if you want to help I'm going to need
people to test it and make suggestions.

If anyone is interested in testing it when I get it reasonably complete, send me
an email at grante@sympatico.delete.canada (remove .delete.canada and add .ca,
I get enough spam) and I'll let you know when it's ready to be tested.

So far I have the basic room, the tv and couch, the rug the kids lay on, and
outlines for the windows and doors. It's coming along nicely.

I even got the tv to animate, so I'm going to go though some of the episodes I
have on DVD and grab some frames of good itchy and scratchy cartoons, and maybe
some of kent brockman, etc. to show on the TV.

Should have some very basic screenshots ready tomorrow night after work, if you
are interested. I'll either post them to alt.binaries.games.unreal or my ISP's
webspace.

Sorry for not answering for awhile, been busy mapping.

I have no idea when a beta will be ready. There is still a lot of work to do
and I don't want to release anything until it is close to completed. When I
release it, I probably won't be hosting on that website since my ISP doesn't
give much monthly bandwidth on it, and hopefully lots of people will download it
:). I'm probably going to post it to a couple of the map websites. I will of
course post the details of the release here so you can all download it.

That's not likely to happen any time soon, mainly because the kitchen would
require a LOT of modeling in maya, and I have not the time or ability to make
most of it. School starts soon, and that's going to take priority. Right now
I'm just hoping to finish the map soon. Maybe if I have some time during school
I'll add to it and release a new version later, but I doubt it.
