[SOLVED] Any suggestions for upgraded final build?

Final version of this submission if possible, updated the Motherboard and GPU as well as some smaller changes. Any other suggestions appreciated!

Approximate Purchase Date: I'm aiming to buy within the next 3 months if possible, soon rather than later.
Budget Range: current budget is roughly £1500 - £2500
System Usage from Most to Least Important: I primarily will use it to game, but will also be doing video editing and illustration further down the line.
Location: currently buying in the UK
Your Monitor Resolution: I will be gaming at 2560 x 1440p @144hz
Additional Comments: ideally trying to cut costs down from the current list, but not trying to sacrifice quality if possible.
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: upgrading from my old R9 390 from 6 years ago, been having screen crashes, loud noises and generally just unable to run the newest games.

My only suggestion is a PCIE 3.0 SSD. For gaming there is no benefit of high speed NVMe’s. For the price of that 980 Pro you can pick up a 2TB PCIE 3.0. With some games now taking over 100gb a 1TB drive disappears quickly and with an SSD you don’t want to go over 85% full.

I have a 1TB 860 EVO SSD SATAIII and a 500GB 850 EVO SSD SATAIII, would it be worth bringing those over from my old build? I currently run my games from a HDD, but looking to go full SSD from here onwards.

I personally would do this. I changed the RAM to low profile corsair RAM. I changed the cooler from the D15 to the 12S redux. I also changed the MSI 6800 xt to the Sapphire nitro+ 6800 xt. I also changed the 1 TB 980 pro to the 1TB 970 evo plus, there are very few real world benefits at this moment for the 980 pro over 970 plus. The build comes out to being a bit cheaper. The 12600k ,IMO, does not need a D15 so that's why I downsized the cooler. If you go with the D15 anyways it would be smart to keep the low profile corsair ram instead of the G skill ram, it can make a difference with clearance for the fan on the d15. You did a very good job with the build.

The 12600k ,IMO, does not need a D15 so that's why I downsized the cooler. If you go with the D15 anyways it would be smart to keep the low profile corsair ram instead of the G skill ram, it can make a difference with clearance for the fan on the d15. You did a very good job with the build.

This is something I've been a little jumpy on too, I've been going between the D15 and 12S Redux a few times, I've seen a few people say it's not needed so I think I will go back to the 12S redux just for Clearance reasons. I'd also not like to be sweating when putting that monster of a D15 on my board.

I also changed the MSI 6800 xt to the Sapphire nitro+ 6800 xt.

I actually am looking to buy the Nitro 6800XT as well including the SE edition.. or the PowerColor Red Devil.. Any one of these three cards really, whenever I can find them at a good price.

Cool cool, will look into that, thankfully I'm able to bring across my 860 & 850 EVO SATAIII too.

Some thoughts:
NH-D15 is as good as there is for an air cooler.
But, the NH-D15s cools equally well and will clear tall ram. Your ram is some 42mm and the D15 clears only 32mm.
The D15s is also slightly offset to clear graphics cards with large backplates.

The msi Z690-A ddr4 wifi is a bit cheaper; I use one. It has no "rgb bling which I do not want.

The value of a 980 pro is a minor bump in benchmark performance and endurance.
On balance, you would do better with a 2tb device for the same cost.
