[SOLVED] Any tips on removing CPU sautered to motherboard and then replacing it with different shaped CPU?

I was repairing my Lenovo Flex 2 and the CPU under the fan was a rectangle instead of the square I wanted to replace it with. Also, the i7 CPU I wanted to replace it with fits into a slot when you put it on top and then you twist a flathead to secure it, and the original CPU is sautered.

search the manual for max tdp supported and chipset compatible and it will be fine to replace

yes you will. you also need to unsolder the old one without damaging everything including the cpu slot

these are not meant to be upgraded and it is unlikely you'll find a better cpu to put in. but if you can find one it has to be exactly designed for and compatible with the motherboard. more than likely you will destroy the system by doing this.

you're best bet is to find someone locally who knows how to do this and let them do it.

you need to provide a specific model number for that so can even look up the possible chips it came with.

just because a chip fits in a slot does not mean it is compatible. often manufacturers limit what will work to save money.

what is the exact model of the flex 2?



edit: seems like you want to change the socket itself?? that's just not going to happen. anything you saw on youtube suggesting such is likely not going to work. if it does, then you need to go back to that video and ask the guy who made it. cause he doing something no one else in the world has done!!

you're talking about hundreds or even thousands f traces that have to be redone, and they won't even line up since sockets are not designed the same. so in other words, it's not gonna happen

This cannot be done.

At best, you could hire someone to replace the existing CPU with an identical CPU.
You can't simply change to a whole new CPU on this motherboard.
