Any trustworthy dvd burners left?

I mean, ones that don't die after 2-3 months of casual use.
Been through asus, samsung, lite-on and latest piece of junk was an lg. All sata, all dying almost exactly after a couple months of use. My burners used to last a year or two, and that was after tons of use. Hell, i'd even go back to ide if I could find one...

...I've never really had any problems with my own DVD drives - I have drives from twenty years ago that are working just fine. Seems that thousands of people happen to really like that particular Asus drive, and I've used it in builds for a couple friends of mine with no problems at all. Pretty solid drive.

I don't think I've ever had one fail. Ever. In 15 years of having optical drives.

My last 3 builds (all in this room and running for the last year+) - ASUS, LG, and I can't tell because its not printed on the front.

So what else might be the cause? The sata controller itself? Dust? Dust shouldn't cause the drive to stop spinning up I would think? And I regularly vacuum the computer out...
