On the Microsoft web site I saw that anyone running a previous version of Windows can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for US$ 39.99. For those already running Windows 8 surely there should be an even better deal but I can't find one.

If you good folks know of any such deal please point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

The only deal I know of, is if you're a student (or know somebody with a dreamspark account) you can get a free LEGIT copy of Windows 8 Pro.

I've been using it for a while now and I got it about a month before the official release!

I think I'll get it as part of my Technet subscription but still it seems odd that users of previous Windows versions can upgrade to Win 8 Pro for $39.99 whereas those who just bought Windows 8 have to pay $69.99.
This means that anyone buying a new computer should just get Win 7 and then upgrade to Win 8 Pro.

Alright point taken. So far the only information I can gather is that

If you have Windows 8 you can get Win 8 Pro w/ MC for 69.99 which for me is a terrible deal
and If you get Win 8 Pro = you get Media Center Pack for free which sorta makes you wanna refund Win 8 and just get Win 8 Pro and get that free Media Center Key.

It's like me Ordering the Wii U Deluxe over standard. Damn, It's like they want you to buy Win 8 Pro.

Actually you can get Media Center with Win8 standard also for $9.99
What bugs me is that those who purchased systems after June can upgrade from Win7 (pro or not) to Win8 Pro for 39.99 whereas someone who bought a system today with Win8 must shell out 69.99 to get Win8 Pro. That, to me, is just ridiculous. I suppose people should buy a system with Win7 standard and the upgrade to Win8 Pro. Someone at MS has been imbibing a bit too much while making these decisions.
I did hear that MS will let people downgrade to Win7 from Win8 although it would discourage it. So people should downgrade to 7 and then upgrade to 8 Pro. Make eminent sense. :ange:
