Hey guys! I'm looking to upgrade my PC (specifically, either my CPU or GPU, but not both if possible) in the upcoming months or maybe weeks, and since I'm not really an expert on these subjects, I would love to hear your recommendations.

This is what I have currently:

CPU: Intel i3-6100 @ 3.70 GHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 950 Ref 2GB
MB: Gigabyte H110M-H
RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury 2133 DDR4

Basically, last year's entry point PC.

Which part would you suggest me to upgrade and why? It's worth noting that I like to play games like GTA 5, RE7, DOOM, Bayonetta, CEMU, among others.

If I need to upgrade both parts, which ones would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

For GPU, i'd go with GTX 1060 6GB,

For CPU, i'd go with i5-6600,

For gaming, GPU upgrade has greater impact than CPU upgrade. Also, the RAM upgrade is helpful since nowadays, 8GB is minimum for gaming.

You can go for GPU upgrade now and CPU + RAM upgrade later on.

Ram first.

Then GPU.

CPU whenever

I personally wouldn't upgrade from your i3 to an i5, I would save and go straight for an i7

You really just need a good RAM upgrade. Possible a 16GB kit. You should wait for volta then upgrade your video card. The 6100 is still plenty good so hold off for the cannon lake plateform as the pinout should change.

You do realize that using Kably Lake CPU on H110 chipset means BIOS update for OP? If the BIOS update should be interrupted (e.g power loss), the MoBo is bricked and OP is looking towards new MoBo and Win license.
Might as well go with i7-6700 Skylake CPU which doesn't require BIOS update.

While RX 580 is best GPU for 1080p, it's also 185W GPU that can consume up to 225W under load. Without knowing how beefy the OP's PSU is, i wouldn't suggest far more power hungry GPU.
GTX 950 is 90W GPU and can work just fine with 350W PSU. If OP has 350W PSU in the PC, RX 580 would blow the PSU. And in worst case scenario, fry the entire PC.
For using RX 580, the PSU should be at least 550W, if not 600W range unit.

In the absence of information suggesting OP lives in a third world country where blackouts are common, I will not hesitate to recommend the best cpu for the socket - bios update or not.

But yes, entry point pc probably means entry point psu so a PSU ugrade would likely need to go with the gpu

Thanks for your imput guys! Also, I made a little typo; I actually have 8GB of RAM, sorry haha. My PSU is a EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze that I got recently since I had a generic 600W PSU that didn't have enough cables for my drives, not to mention it being generic kind of bothers me. Also, I don't mind the BIOS update since the store where I got the parts can do updates for free as long as you bought your MB with them.

Yes, I do live in a third world country, but blackouts aren't that common. I still have a Smartbitt 1000VA UPS that I got from the same store. Might be a little overkill, but better safe than sorry!

Anyway, I'll probably save more to change both CPU and GPU. I think I'll go with Aeacus' suggestion. I'm not in THAT much of a hurry to upgrade my PC anyway, since the only game where I have slight issues is with GTA 5 (sometimes it stutters because the CPU usage tries to go over 100%).
