No. Of course that is the sensible way of anchoring a monitor, especially if you want it to rotate. I just thought it would be far more secure if held at the corners. I wonder if there are other reasons why they don't do this. You'd think the corners would be the strongest part of the frame of the monitor. Maybe not.
