Any way to check if a PSU is alive without the paperclip trick?

Today's the day I finally get to order my graphics card (pretty sure I've said that alot) but lo and behold, my PSU stopped powering my system.

It was working fine before I installed my HDD, but even after I unplugged that, it still wouldn't power my system. I flipped all the switches I could and tried all combinations possible and it wouldn't power my system. The thing was, it was working fine before, but I hadn't used it in months, so I dont know what could possibly break it.

Any way to check if I can see if it's still alive? I think it's dead personally, that's why I have an Antec BP500U on its way to replace it. I have no paperclips in the house (odd LOL) to check to see if it's alive so I need other means of checking, or if anyone has any troubleshooting solutions, that would be great.

Any random wire will do. Strip the plastic off a twisty or something. There's almost no current, so it doesn't need to be thick.

What's the current PSU?

Plug it in, switch it on, run your tongue across the connectors. If your still standing, psu a dud, if not, you know its working.

Just wait and use the Antec.

I was afraid of posting that LOL but it's a Rosewill RD 450. Scold me lol, Tier 5. I bought it almost a year ago, then , I didn't know as much as I know now.

@das_stig I licked it real nice n good. I got electrocuted and lost my life but with the magic of friendship, I was brought back to life with some balls.

12V doesn't usually do much to you, though given your tongue is coated with nice conductive saliva it might cause trouble...

Some of Rosewill's kit isn't too bad. Can't find much on that one though, which isn't a good sign.

Alright. I finally stopped being a lazy ass and decided to do the old breadboard trick. Went back to step one, shorted the power pins n all, and wala, it powered on. So I know it's not the power supply.

Update: Alright, I unplugged all of the front panel connectors and replugged them in. The computer's working now. Thanks you all for your time, I certainly did waste it over being lazy lol.
