Any way to get this to work?

Hey, everyone!

So my wife is a radiologist and has to have our wireless router in her office room of our house. The only problem is this room is downstairs, across the house, and up another set of stairs. Needless to say the WiFi strength where my PC is is horrible, getting only 3-4 Mbps down while we pay for 60. Would it be worth it to run a cat6 ethernet cable from the router through the ceiling straight to my PC? Would you guys recommend any different solutions?

Thanks

Option 1 is always a ethernet cable if there is any possible way to accomplish it. This will always be the fastest and once it is installed you will never have to think about it again.

Option 2 is one of the powerline solutions. They generally work anywhere in the house. They work best on the same circuit. Unfortunately there are houses it does not work in. Almost impossible to predict but they do work in most houses.

Option 3 when you have no other possible way you look at range extenders/wireless repeaters. These greatly degrade the signal quality (although the signal strength is increased) and reduce the final speed. You would choose this option when any type of connection is better than no connection.
