Question Any way to pause/resume video playback in Firefox via hotkey?

I often play podcasts in Firefox while working and it's a pain in the neck when I need to pause it momentarily to concentrate so I have to look through my many tabs to find it, click on it, find the pause button etc etc. you get the idea.

So it would be great if it were possible to pause/resume with a hotkey that worked even if Firefox was minimized.

Is there any way to do this? Firefox, as far as I can tell, can't do it natively. Is there some other program or some extension that could do this?

Alternatively, is there some browser that offers this feature natively?

If it is running in one of the "many tabs" you may have open, I don't think there is anything or particular keystroke that can stop what is playing on Tab #18.

Question:

Why not open a second instance of Firefox and "dedicate" that instance to the subject podcast?

Either leave the window behind the active but visible enough to hit pause || when you need to concentrate.

Or minimize that instance and just click it on the Task Bar to open and pause.

Two monitors might make it all the more workable. Monitor #2 being dedicated for podcast use.

i believe you can run URLs through VLC and use it's control functions.
has dedicated hotkeys that can be customized for everything.

On my desktop, YT video played in a browser can be paused / started with "Play/Pause" key on my keyboard. It does not matter which app / tab has the focus.

there are hundreds, possibly thousands, of keyboards available by now with volume and media control features.
you should just shop around for one that fits your size, budget, and other needs.

my K70 LUX is one of many of the Corsair lines that offer these options.

But the thing is, I don't understand what that hotkey is binding to, because, AFAIK, there's no hotkey that can do that, so IDK whether this particular key is something specific to Albalcho's keyboard. I'm not sure any keyboard with a play/pause key would do.

doesn't matter what's running on my system;

applications like WinAMP or Media Player playing audio in the background while i'm gaming,
VLC playing video in a window while browsing or File Explorer is in the foreground,
video playing through YouTube or other web hosts, etc...

all of them are still under the control of my volume wheel & stop\play\back\forward keys:
